Apple
In Turkey, apple cultivation is carried out on approximately 1.7 million decares of land. The provinces of Niğde, Isparta, and Karaman have the largest areas dedicated to apple production. While the national apple production was 283,000 tons in 1961, it has increased more than twelvefold to date. The most widely cultivated apple variety is the Starking.
Harvest Season
Apples are typically harvested in September and October, depending on the firmness of the skin and the ease with which the fruit detaches from the branch. With the arrival of autumn, apples picked in September begin to appear on market shelves and fruit stands in October and November.
