Tomatoes, a vegetable that was first cultivated in South American countries, hold one of the most important places in global production today. They are among the most widely consumed vegetables by millions of people every day. After the discovery of the New World, tomatoes began to spread across Europe, and by the 1900s, they reached Adana, Turkey, where they started being cultivated. From the 1950s onward, tomato cultivation expanded rapidly and became one of the most important crops in Turkey’s agricultural sector due to increasing demand.
