Cherry
In Turkey, cherry cultivation is carried out on a wide agricultural area thanks to the country’s favorable climate and soil structure. Turkey is one of the world’s leading cherry producers, with major production concentrated in provinces such as Konya, Isparta, Afyonkarahisar, Manisa, and İzmir. Over the years, cherry production has increased significantly due to modern cultivation techniques and growing international demand. Turkish cherries are especially valued for their color, firmness, and high sugar content, making them highly competitive in export markets.
Harvest Season
Cherries are generally harvested between May and July, depending on the region, altitude, and variety. Harvest time is determined by fruit color, size, and sweetness. Early-season cherries begin to appear in markets in May, while late varieties harvested in higher altitudes can be found until July. Since cherries are delicate and have a short shelf life, they are usually hand-picked and quickly transported to preserve freshness and quality.
